Our assessments are designed for children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 6-21) who face challenges in school or daily life due to:
- Learning disabilities
- ADHD
- Developmental delays
- Emotional and behavioural challenges
These assessments offer a holistic view, helping parents, educators, and students better understand the root of academic struggles and how to address them.
.
Why Choose Us?
At Mimico Medical, we take a multidisciplinary approach to psycho-educational assessments. Our focus is not just on testing cognitive skills, but also understanding how emotional and behavioural factors impact learning and daily functioning. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Naomi Tal leads our assessments, ensuring every child receives a personalized and in-depth evaluation.
What to Expect: Our Five-Step Process
1. Initial Consultation & Intake
A 1-hour session (in-person or virtual) with parents/guardians (or the client if an adult) to gather important information about the child’s academic, emotional, and behavioural history.
Questionnaires are sent to teachers and parents to understand the child’s behaviour across home and school environments.
A $400 deposit is required at this stage (deducted from the final cost if the assessment is completed).
2. Personalized Assessment Plan
After the intake, Dr. Tal develops a tailored assessment plan that might include:
Cognitive Tests (WISC for children or WAIS for adults)
Academic Tests (WIAT)
Emotional and Behavioral Assessments
Screenings for conditions such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), speech/language delays, or executive functioning issues
Giftedness testing/designation
3. Assessment & Testing
Testing takes place over 5-6 hours at our clinic with Dr. Naomi Tal. During this time, we comprehensively assess cognitive abilities, academic skills, and emotional and behavioural functioning.
4. Feedback & Reporting
Within 1-2 weeks, you will receive:
A detailed feedback session explaining the findings and their implications for your child’s academic and emotional needs.
A comprehensive written report outlining:
Cognitive strengths and weaknesses
Academic skill levels
Emotional and behavioural functioning
Clear recommendations for school accommodations (e.g., IEP/504 plans) and therapeutic interventions.
5. Ongoing Support (Optional)
For families needing more guidance, we offer monthly consultations at a discounted rate of $350 per session.
